At Wings With Wheels, we believe that life is meant to be lived without limits. Whether it’s soaring through the skies during an adaptive flight experience or connecting people through inclusive community events, our mission has always been to inspire hope, independence, and opportunity for individuals of all abilities.
That’s why we’re excited to announce that Wings With Wheels will be participating in the 2026 “Adding the Missing Ingredients” Gumbo Bowl Exhibition Event on September 26, 2026, at Federal City in Algiers, New Orleans.
This incredible event, hosted by S.M.C.L. Foundation & Associates Inc., brings together organizations from across Louisiana that are dedicated to expanding opportunities for people with disabilities through adaptive sports, recreation, education, health, and community engagement.
More Than an Event—A Movement
The Gumbo Bowl is much more than a football game. It’s a celebration of inclusion, resilience, and the power of community. Throughout the weekend, attendees will experience:
- Wheelchair Football Exhibition Games
- Flag Football
- Louisiana Gumbo Cook-Off
- Adaptive Sports Demonstrations
- Live Entertainment
- Local Vendors
- Family Activities
- Community Resources
- Veteran and Military Engagement
Every activity helps raise awareness while supporting year-round therapeutic recreation and adaptive sports programs that serve youth, adults, seniors, disabled veterans, active-duty military members, and individuals living with physical, visual, and economic challenges throughout Greater New Orleans.
Why Wings With Wheels Is Participating
At Wings With Wheels, we know that adaptive sports and recreation change lives. They build confidence, create friendships, improve mental health, and remind people that disability should never define what’s possible.
Our team is proud to stand alongside S.M.C.L. Foundation & Associates Inc. and many other nonprofit organizations, community leaders, volunteers, athletes, and supporters who are working together to increase awareness and expand access to adaptive opportunities across Louisiana.
We’ll be on-site to meet families, share information about our adaptive aviation experiences, discuss volunteer opportunities, and connect with individuals who are ready to experience the freedom of flight.
Building Stronger Communities Together
When organizations unite around a common mission, incredible things happen. The Gumbo Bowl showcases what can be accomplished when adaptive sports, recreation, health, aviation, veterans’ services, and community organizations work together to create a more inclusive future.
Every conversation, every volunteer, every sponsor, and every participant helps open doors for someone who may have never believed these opportunities were possible.
