For many, adventure is defined by running, climbing, or jumping—activities that rely entirely on foot-launching and physical mobility. If you use a wheelchair, the world of extreme sports has traditionally felt like a closed door, guarded by a list of things your body “can’t” do.

At Wings with Wheels, we are here to change that narrative completely. We believe that adventure shouldn’t have a physical prerequisite, and we know for a fact that the sky doesn’t care if you can walk.

Shattering the Foot-Launch Barrier

Traditional paramotoring requires the pilot to sprint forward with a heavy motor strapped to their back until the wing lifts them into the air. For an individual with spinal cord injuries, amputation, or limited lower-body mobility, this requirement makes the sport entirely inaccessible.

That is where the “wheels” come in. By utilizing custom-engineered rolling chassis—highly specialized, lightweight trikes fitted with adaptive harnesses and roll cages—we eliminate the foot-launch altogether.

Our participants don’t need to take a single step. They sit comfortably, secure in a rig designed specifically for stability and safety. With an experienced adaptive flight instructor at the controls, the motor spins, the wheels roll across the grass, and within seconds, the ground falls away.

The Ultimate Equalizer

Aviation is a powerful medicine. On the ground, navigating a world built for the able-bodied can be an exhausting daily battle against curbs, stairs, and narrow doorways.

But at 2,000 feet, those barriers vanish. There are no tracks to stay inside, no ramps to look for, and no limitations. The moment an adaptive flyer leaves the ground, they are operating in a space of absolute equity.

“When you are flying, you aren’t looking down thinking about your disability,” says Tony Torres, founder of Wings with Wheels. “You are entirely focused on the beauty of the horizon, the wind in your face, and the pure thrill of flight. Up there, everyone is equal.”

Building a Community of Flight

True inclusion means more than just giving someone a ride; it means making them a vital part of the community. Our mission goes beyond single tandem experiences. We are actively working to:

  • Design and build custom adaptive flight rigs tailored to various physical needs.

  • Host community fly-in days where individuals with disabilities, veterans, and their families can gather, share stories, and experience the sky together.

  • Provide fully funded flights so that financial barriers never prevent someone from leaving their limitations on the ground.

Help Us Open the Skies

We cannot do this alone. To keep our flights completely free for adaptive participants, we rely on a dedicated crew of volunteers, passionate pilots, and generous community sponsors.

Whether you are an adaptive individual ready to take your very first flight, a volunteer looking to join our ground crew, or a business ready to make a powerful social impact, there is a place for you in our hangar.

The sky belongs to everyone. It’s time to claim your piece of it.
